Course Objectives:

You work hard for your money, find out how to make your money work hard for you. Enable the student to gain financial control of his or her life by introducing a broad range of material relevant conducting one’s personal financial affairs. The material is applicable whether the student plans to conduct his or her own financial affairs of hire outside help. The ultimate goal is to enable the student to become  financially independent!

II.                Understand basic money management

a.       Cash flow analysis – control spending and start saving
b.      Basic credit concepts – evaluate costs and manage credit       cards, installment loans, mortgages, etc.
c.       Housing and other major costs – rent versus buy

III.             Understand insurance and determine your needs

IV.              Understand basic investing and wealth building techniques

a.       Inflation – the silent thief of your wealth
b.      Terminology and fundamentals of the stock market

V.                 Understand basic tax planning

a.       Tax deferred retirement programs (IRA, SEP, 403B, Keogh,       401k)

Method of Presentation:

Lecture, open discussions and review of assignments. The course emphasizes how the material learned in class can be put to work immediately in the financial affairs of the student.
