Autumn 2009 Phone Updates

Beginning September 4, 2009 we switched to five digit dialing on campus. Extension numbers did not change; push 5 then the four digit extension number. Dialing other OSU campuses and facilities from Ohio State Mansfield will only require dialing the last five digits of the person’s phone number. (The public will still dial the ten digit number to contact someone on campus). Voicemail for campus phones will have a five digit campus number and a ten digit number for off-campus access.

As we move forward with President Gee’s initiative “One University Many Locations” these changes are necessary to provide a seamless integration of technology and communication throughout The Ohio State University system. Please see examples below.

Internal Campus Dialing (station to station)

  • To dial the conference room in Ovalwood O-265 from your desk dial 5-4114
  • To dial Molyet Village (419) 747-XXXX

Off Campus Dialing to Other OSU Campuses

  • To dial a number at OSU Columbus from your desk dial the last 5 digits.    Example: for UniPrint (614-292-2000) at OSU-Columbus dial 2-2000

    2-XXXX = (614) 292-XXXX
    4-XXXX = (614) 514-XXXX
    7-XXXX = (614) 247-XXXX
    8-XXXX = (614) 688-XXXX

    No access code (82) is required when dialing other OSU campuses.

Long Distance Dialing

  • Dial 1 + plus number code + area code + 7 digit number

Note: For long distance dialing you will dial 1, wait for dial tone, then enter your plus number, wait for dial tone, then enter your area code plus your seven digit number.

Dialing 1-800, 1-888, etc.

  • Dial 9 + 1-800 + 7 digit number, or 9 + 1-888 + 7 digit number, etc.

Voice Mail Access

  • When on-campus - access voice mail by dialing 2-4141
  • From home or off- campus in the Mansfield area - dial 419-747-8585

Voice Mail Instructions

  • After accessing the voice mail you will be prompted for your voice mail box press your extension number (5-XXXX) followed by pressing the star sign.
  • Next you will be prompted for your password or passcode. At the initial setup your password is 111111. Then you will be prompted to change your password and provide a greeting. Your password can be between 4 – 10 digits. Push 7 to play unheard messages and 3 to discard heard messages.
