The Presence of Latin American Art in Ohio
Join us for an evening with artists from Artistas Latinos Unidos, who will share their collection of paintings and discuss their experiences as Latin American artists. A special social hour from 6:00 - 7:00 PM will include live music and tapas courtesy of The Roberto Ocasio Foundation.

Latino Culture and Latino Studies in the United States
Dr. Theresa Delgadiollo, Assistant Professor, Department of Comparative Studies at The Ohio State University, will discuss the meaning of "Latino" in the context of the United States and provide a brief history of Latino/a people in the U.S. including some background for contemporary American Latino/a culture. Free chips and salsa will be available.

Roberto Ocasio's Latin Jazz Trio
Kick off Cinco de Mayo with Roberto Ocasio's Latin Jazz Trio, complete with dance instructors! The trio plays a musical mixture of funk, fusion, salsa, and mambo. Grupo Isla del Encanto (a children's dance group) will also perform. There will be free food samples from El Campestre and craft activities for children!

This program introduces students, teachers, and community members to the music, history and cultural impact of the blues. A live musical performance explores the history of blues music from its roots in African musical traditions, through its emergence and evolution as a unique American music form, and its influence on other forms of popular contemporary music. The presentation demonstrates how blues and blues-inspired music reflect important events in American history. The event is free; however, tickets are required.
