regular part-time program option &
advanced standing alternative plan (ASAP) option

The Part-Time MSW Option on a regional campus provides the opportunity to enroll in The Ohio State University's nationally recognized and fully accredited MSW program with the convenience of being close to home. Through a cooperative agreement between the Ohio State's College of Social Work and the regional campuses, students are able to complete the Master of Social Work degree requirements. Regional campus students receive the same quality educational experience as their Columbus counterparts. Regional classes are taught by OSU College of Social Work faculty and community practitioners. The same course of study, syllabi, and texts are used on all campuses. A new cohort of students begins in the Summer quarter of each calendar year.

The Regular Part-Time Program Option usually takes 13 quarters to complete the 91 credit hour program and the Part-Time Advanced Standing Alternative Plan (ASAP) Program Option usually takes 8 quarters to complete the 60 credit hour program. Please Note: The ASAP program is for students who have recently completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program. Admission criteria include an earned undergraduate degree in social work within the past five years, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, have earned a grade of a “B” or better in all required undergraduate social work courses, and proof of their undergraduate field placement.

graduate non-degree

The Mansfield campus also offers a variety of courses that may be available to fulfill licensure requirements or that can be taken Graduate Non-degree prior to admission to the program. A graduate non-degree student can take up to 10 credit hours of OSU graduate course work. If the student earns a grade of "B" or higher for a course, the courses/hours transfer into the program once a student is admitted. Since the program admits students every two years, this enables students to take some courses in the interim. These courses are valid for five years for transferring into the program.

To apply for graduate non-degree status for one of the current Mansfield course offerings, go to the OSU Graduate Non Degree website. Download the materials, complete them and mail them along with a copy of your undergraduage degree diploma to the MSW office at Mansfield.
