Tests:

Each test will be worth 100 points and will consist of multiple-choice, short answer, and essay questions. You are responsible for all of the material discussed in class as well as the textbook. If it is necessary for you to miss a test, you must make arrangements with me before the test is given. Please do not request an alterative testing time for reasons of personal preference. Illness or death remain the only good excuses for taking a make-up test.

Paper:

A 7-10 page research paper worth 100 points is also required (length refers to typewritten pages). Guidelines for this assignment appear on a separate handout. The penalty for late papers will be 10 points per day, which will drop the paper grade by one letter grade per day. An outline and reference list for the paper will be several weeks prior to the due date for the paper.

Grade Determination:

The point scale to be used to determine grades will be as follows:

A 93% - 100%

A- 90% - 92%

B+ 87% - 89%

B 83% - 86%

B- 80% - 82%

C+ 77% - 79%

C 73% - 76%

C- 70% - 72%

D+ 67% - 69%

D 60% - 66%

E 59% and below

No specific credit will be given for attendance or class participation, but these factors will be taken into consideration in the case of a borderline grade.
