Courses
|
| An honors course is a section of any university course that is so designated, for example, English H101 (note the H before the course number). When a section of a course is designated an honors section, the enrollment is restricted to honors students and class size is limited to fifteen. Although the subject matter covered in an honors section is generally similar to that covered in regular sections of the course, the format of the honors section is designed to permit greater interaction between students and instructor. Honors sections are more challenging than regular sections, however grading standards neither penalize nor reward a student for choosing an honors section over a regular section. | ![]() |

Note
If a student wishes to register for an honors course, he/she should see first his/her academic advisor to have permission posted. After this has been done, the student will be able to register for the course on the web. |

Honors-Embedded Courses |
| In an honors-embedded (HE) course, honors students attend a regular class with non-honors students. In addition, the honors students embedded within the class will work individually with the professor on a special project. The nature of this project will vary widely across courses and professors. Courses that offer the honors-embedded option will be so designated in the course schedules. Students should direct questions about the HE project to the specific professor. Students must receive permission from the professor to enroll in the honors option. Note: Honors-embedded courses count as honors courses for meeting the requirement of completing six honors courses in the first two years of study. |

Honors-Equivalent Courses |
|
Honors-equivalent courses are 500- and 600-level courses which, when satisfactorily completed by freshmen and sophomore honors students, will be counted as honors courses for meeting the requirement of completing six honors courses in the first two years of study. Upcoming honors-equivalent courses are announced in the Honors Newsletter. |
