Course Objectives: This is seminar and practicum in historical interpretation through the analysis of the historical problem of war and religion through a reading and research program. Each student will choose an example of religious warfare (from the First Crusade to the present) to analyze and write a 20 page research paper on.
Course Content:
Method of Presentation: seminar; We will read about the theoretical issues surrounding this issue as a group prior to students pursuing their individual topics.
Method of Evaluation: There will be interim assignments (preliminary bibliography, 2-3 page historiographical essay, and oral reports) in addition to the final research paper.
