Course Objectives:
Course Content: This course examines the tumultuous and rapid changes in the religious, political, social and economic life of Britain in the period between 1485 and 1714, including the religious transformation from Catholicism to Protestantism, the growth of a capitalist economy, and the English Civil War. The Tudor-Stuart period was also one of important cultural developments. Throughout we will aim to understand the goals and aspirations Britains rulers as well as the British people.
Method of Presentation: 50/50 mix of lecture and discussion
