Course Objectives:

Course Content: This is an upper-level course covering the history of imperial Russia, approx. 1685-1917. We will examine the territorial expansion of Russia, together with political, economic, social and cultural developments.

Method of Presentation: Seminar format

Method of Evaluation: Participation is a large percentage of the course, together with a midterm, final and one 12 page research paper.
